Bin Gallery

We like wheelie bins and we like to see pictures of other people's wheelie bins. The Bin Gallery is a collection of photographs we have been sent by wheelie bin enthusiasts around the world. If you have a photograph of your favourite bin why not send it to us and if it's good enough we may post it in the Bin Gallery!

A blue-grey wheelie bin and a green wheelie bin

Saving the planet

Clean and organised, these two Belgian-made Druckkswitt bins are used by Leeds City Council for their doorstep recycling service. The blue-grey bin is for cans and the bottle green bin is for... bottles! (submitted by Robert, Leeds)

Wheelie bins in a back alley bask in the golden light of a sunrise

Sunrise

Wheelie bins wait patiently to be emptied. This photograph was taken in the North of England where houses still have back alleys and is a sight to gladden the heart of any Binner (submitted by Magda, Manchester)

Neglected wheelie bin

Truly shocking

Again from the North of England this is a sad image of bin neglect. Do this to a pet and you would be locked up but it seems society accepts the mistreatment of a wheelie bin as acceptable (submitted by Magda, Manchester)

Sort It! recycling bin

Sort it!

A humorous message on this recycling bin from the Forest of Delft. The local waste disposal authority have used a young person's expression meaning "to get a job completed" as an encouragement to the householder to ensure careful separation of recyclable waste! (submitted by Bryan, Bristol)

Very old dust bin without wheels

A blast from the past

Some younger visitors to this site might not be aware but bins haven't always had wheels! This is a true classic, a 1984 Webber Clip Top, worth over £2.89 on the collector's market (submitted by Peter, Cheshire)

Clean black wheelie bin

Take pride in your bin

A well loved and well maintained Carlton 363. This wheelie bin owner certainly takes a pride in the appearance of their bin and will be rewarded with a long, loyal service (submitted by Bryan, Bristol)

Over filled Bahamian trash cans

(1) The wrong way...

A cautionary tale is provided in this set of two photographs of "trash cans" (bins) in the Bahamas. This householder has overfilled their trash cans and is providing a perfect habitat for the insects and deadly reptiles which inhabit such hot countries (submitted by Zoë (aged 8), Bahamas)

Correctly filled Bahamian trash cans

(2)...and the right way

However these trash cans are clean and tidy with the lids secured. This householder can dispose of their garbage without fear of cockroach attack or death by venomous snake bite. Congratulations to our youngest member for these excellent trash can photographs (submitted by Zoë (aged 8), Bahamas)

Bahamian trash collection vehicle

Mack truck

This lucky man gets to spend his days handling trash cans and enjoying the sun in Bahamas. How we would all like to swap our lives for his! Trash cans in the Bahamas do not yet have wheels but in 2004 the Bahamian government set up the "Wheels on Trash Cans" initiative. See our Bin Manufacturers section for more details (submitted by Claire, Bahamas)

Rear of Bahamian trash collection vehicle

Back of Mack

This interesting view clearly shows the Allegro 6 crushing mechanism used on all Mack trucks built between 1986 and 1992. These mighty jaws deliver a force in excess of 268 lbs per square inch (submitted by Claire, Bahamas)
