Wheelie Bin Manufacturers

There are over 463 manufacturers of wheelie bins in the world so this section cannot hope to cover all of the different designs you may find on your travels. We have chosen four of the most popular wheelie bin brands to give you an insight into the variety of companies which produce this fascinating piece of household refuse collection equipment.

Critchley 00

Britain's most widespread wheelie bin. The Critchley 00 is made in Cricket St Thomas near Chard and is a true icon of the twentieth century with its trade mark 45 degree turned-in lid handles. Many fads of the period will not stand the test of time but due to it's non-biodegradable plastic casing this beauty will outlive all on the planet but the cockroaches.

Druckkswitt 770

The managing director of Belgian wheelie bin manufacturer Druckkswitt set up the company with his compensation after being made redundant from his previous job carving sea shell shaped moulds for praline filled chocolates. Druckkswitt wheelie bins can be distinguished from the Critchley 00 (above) by the parallel nature of the handles on the lid.

Carlton 363

The Carlton models of bin are especially popular with waste disposal authorities in the South of England. The unique curves and handle free lid design owes much to the Art Deco period of history and is inspired by the works of Tamara De Lempicka. Look out for them if you are in Devon or Cornwall.

Citrus 90210

The Citrus Corporation is one of only 16 "trash can" (bin) manufacturers scattered across in the collection of islands which form the Bahamas. Based on New Providence island Citrus manufacture trash cans of heavy construction to repel rodent or insect attack. Though not yet making trash cans with a wheeled design, the Citrus Corporation is working in partnership with the Bahamian government to promote its "Wheels on Trash Cans" initiative which offers householders a grant of up to $5 to retrofit wheels to their trash cans. So far over ten people have made use of this generous grant.
